ONCE ON THIS ISLAND
AUDIO TECHNICIAN
Once on This Island is a musical about Ti Moune, a poor peasant girl on a Caribbean island divided by class and skin color. After the gods save her from a storm, Ti Moune falls in love with Daniel, a rich boy she nurses back to health. She follows him to the city, believing their love is meant to be—but he ultimately marries someone of his class. Heartbroken, Ti Moune dies, and the gods turn her into a tree that unites the island, symbolizing love and healing across divides. Within this show, I was working as the A2 and as an assistant to the wardrobe crew. Being on both teams allowed me to make sure all actors' mics were properly cared for during quick changes and forced me to be ready for any problem, whether it be costumes or sound, at all times during the performances.
SUMMER 2024
AUDIO TECHNICIAN
With Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, I interned as one of the A2s for their summer season at The Civic Center Music Hall. I assisted in loading in and out of the theatre, running the show, helping actors get into and out of mics, and troubleshooting any issues that arose throughout the duration of the performances. This was a very hands-on and quick-thinking job that allowed me to learn more about mics for musicals and how they function in such a large space. Being able to work with a multitude of actors also taught me how to manage over 40+ microphones at one time. (I also got to fly in the air to test our fly system for Mary Poppins)
